The African Union Commission's Information and Communication Directorate has announced the launch of online media accreditation for the 8th Mid-Year Coordination Meeting of the African Union, Regional Economic Communities and Regional Mechanisms, due to take place on 27 June 2026 in El Alamein, the Arab Republic of Egypt.

The meeting carries the theme "Assuring Sustainable Water Availability and Safe Sanitation Systems to Achieve the Goals of Agenda 2063," placing water governance and infrastructure at the centre of this round of continental coordination between the AU and its regional bodies.

The El Alamein gathering forms the concluding session of a wider sequence of institutional meetings. The 52nd Ordinary Session of the Permanent Representatives' Committee (PRC) runs from 14 May to 4 June 2026 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. That is followed by the 49th Ordinary Session of the Executive Council, scheduled for 24–25 June 2026 in El Alamein, immediately preceding the coordination meeting itself on 27 June.

Journalists seeking accreditation must register through the AU's dedicated online portal at accreditation.au.int before the deadline of 1 June 2026. The AUC has indicated that accredited journalists will be able to attend open sessions in person or follow proceedings via a dedicated virtual link, to be provided at a later date. A detailed agenda and programme are also to be published on the AU website in due course.
